IRS Increases Mileage Rate to 76 Cents for Second Half of 2026. The IRS announced it is increasing the business standard mileage rate for transportation expenses paid or incurred beginning July 1 due to recent increases in fuel prices. The rate applies to all electric, hybrid-electric, gasoline, and diesel vehicles.
ACA Affordability Percentage Increases to 10.22% for 2027. The IRS released its annual inflation adjustment to the percentage of household income used to determine whether an employer’s offer of health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is affordable.
EEOC Proposes to Stop Filing Requirements for EEO-1. On July 23, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued a notice of proposed rulemaking to stop filing requirements for the Employer Information Report (EEO-1), as well as its related recordkeeping and record preservation requirements for most employers.
DOL Publishes Two FLSA Opinion Letters. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published two opinion letters to help employers comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The opinion letters provide official written interpretations from the DOL that address real-world questions and explain how laws apply to specific circumstances.
